breathe…

The problem

Most singing apps want an account and a subscription before you sing a single note, and many send your voice to a server. Beginners mostly need three things: know their range, hear whether they are in tune, and practise holding a note steadily.

Use it to

  • Find out your vocal range and likely voice type.
  • Check whether you hit a note, with the deviation shown in cents.
  • Practise holding a note steadily and watch it improve over time.
  • Warm up before singing with guided exercises, intervals and simple songs.
  • Practise on your phone or laptop without creating an account.

What it does

01

Find your range

Slide from your lowest to your highest comfortable note and get your range and likely voice type.

02

Hit the note

A reference tone plays, you sing it back, and a live pitch line shows how close you are, in cents.

03

Hold the note

Sustain a pitch inside a tolerance band and watch steadiness and duration improve over time.

04

Warm-ups, intervals and songs

Guided warm-ups, interval and melody drills, and simple songs to put it all together.

05

Grounded in voice science

Tips cite research on breathing, warm-ups and practice frequency, not influencer folklore.

06

On-device only

Microphone audio never leaves the browser. Progress is stored locally, with an optional backup file.

A pitch pipeline that never blocks the UI

An AudioWorklet collects microphone samples into small hops and hands them, through a MessagePort, straight to a Web Worker. The worker runs the McLeod Pitch Method (via the MIT-licensed pitchy) and emits frames of pitch, clarity and level about 90 times a second. The main thread only draws.

Deciding when someone is actually singing

Raw pitch estimates are noisy. Singler gates them by clarity, by level above an adaptive noise floor (or a calibrated one), and by plausible vocal range, then smooths with a short median. While a note is sustained, the level gate relaxes a little, so a soft ending doesn't break the hold.

It's a static SvelteKit site on Cloudflare's free tier: no backend, no database, no paid APIs. German and English are built in from day one with Paraglide, and note names follow the language (H in German, B in English).
